The Farstrup furniture factory has its roots in the village of Farstrup, which has 446 inhabitants. It is located in northern Himmerland, Denmark.
Before becoming a furniture factory, it was a sawmill, established in 1910. Production expanded later to include furniture manufacturing. Furniture production intensified to represent more than half of the company's business in the 1960s.
Designer Thomas Harlev worked for Farstrup in the 1950s. He created two iconic chairs during this time: the No. 210 and the Stick Back chair.
